| | c | Dear Students, At St Mary's we are very lucky to have a large, new Library full of wonderful things which can help you learn to love learning. We have also written answers to the questions we are always asked. | | | Is there anyone to help me? Mrs Hall is who you are most likely to see in the Library. If you need any help, just ask me. I will help you to help yourself to find what you need.
Back to Top | | What can I do in the Library? We have lots of books in the Library, and most of them can be borrowed. We have a large collection of picture story books, fiction and non fiction books. we have special sections for Junior Fiction and Junior Non Fiction for younger readers. Ee have Italian books for loan and an excellent reference section with a number of encyclopedias, atlases, dictionaries which you can use. Take some time to look at all the new books on display, select a serial or pick a puzzle book. You can also read magazines, write, draw, play with puppets, listen to stories or use the computers. There are activities happening every lunchtime for you to enjoy..
Back to Top | | When can I borrow books? You can come to borrow or return books any day from before school ,at lunchtime or after school (if you don't catch a bus.) Your class also has a library lesson every week. Ask your teacher when your special time is. Back to Top | | How do I borrow the books I choose? You need to bring your library bag with you to borrow books from the library. If you are in a Prep - Grade Two you may borrow 4 books at a time. If you are in a Grade Three - Four you may borrow 4 each week. If you are in a Grade Five - Six you may borrow t4books each week. Before you leave the Library, you must have your books recorded by the computer so please see Mrs Hall at the circulation desk. If you are not sure whether you still have books on loan, ask us and we can check your record on the computer. Back to Top | | How long can I have to read the books? You can borrow the books for two weeks. You may bring them back before then if you have finished reading them, and if you need them longer please come and see us and we will renew them for you. Back to Top | | What happens if I forget to bring my books back? If you have the books for more than two weeks, we will give you a reminder to bring them back. If you still do not return them, we will send you another reminder note. When books are very overdue, we contact your parents and ask them to pay for the book. You can not borrow any other books if you have books overdue. If you damage a book please let us know and we will fix it with proper book tape. Mrs Hall keeps a record of all overdue notices sent out, and if she finds that she is having to give you lots of notices to bring the books back, we may decide that you will only be able to borrow one book at a time, instead of three. If you lose a book, we will ask you to pay for it so we can replace it.
