MARY'S - Parent Education Policy | | | At St. Mary’s School Parent Education is important so that parents develop an understanding of the curriculum both at whole school and individual class levels. This will enhance their confidence to be more involved within the school, developing more positive interaction with their child and teacher.
AIMS
- To be aware of school programs and the school curriculum
- To provide parents with skills and strategies to help their child
- To enhance the partnership between parents and teachers
- To encourage parent involvement
- To maintain parent/child relationships and skills
- To promote consistency between home and school
At St. Mary’s we cater for Parent Education in the following ways;
- Curriculum Information on weekly and classroom newsletters
- Sacramental Information evenings
- Personal Development evenings for Year 5/6
- Ten minute discussions early in Term 1 where parents inform teachers about their child
- Parent/Teacher discussions held in Term 2
- Literacy information sessions are held in term one of each year
- Prep and new family information evenings are held each December
- Numeracy information sessions are held in term one of each year
